CARSYS AVTOPODBOR app — the full guide

The CARSYS AVTOPODBOR app runs on Android 13 and newer and is made to work together with the thickness gauge. It shows the reading on your phone, saves history and builds a report on the car body.

On first launch the app creates a database with default data: car makes and models, body types, panels and measurement points. Everything is ready to use right away — nothing to set up.

The app has four sections switched by the bottom menu:

• Home — the main measurement screen: pairing, result, history and statistics.
• Report — the step-by-step report wizard.
• Archive — storage of finished car reports.
• Settings — measurement points, makes and models, experts and app/gauge settings.

To search for devices, turn on Bluetooth and location on your phone and grant the app the required permissions — without them the gauge won’t be found.

Open the Home section, turn on the gauge and tap “Connect” — the search starts. The device name shows the last 4 digits of the serial number, so the right gauge is easy to tell apart. Pick it from the list.

After the first pairing the app remembers the gauge and connects automatically. If the device isn’t found — stop the search, turn the gauge off and on again.

To return the app to its initial state, press and hold the app icon, open “App info” (the “i” icon), find the “Storage” row and tap “Clear cache” and “Clear data”. On the next launch the database is recreated.

The Home section shows the reading, mode and units, history, colour and text hints, the colour scale and series statistics. That is enough for simple measurements when no report is needed.

Open the Report section — the wizard walks you through it. Pick the make and model (search helps), check the body type, set the company and expert and tap “Start measuring”.

In the measurement screen pick a panel — it appears on the screen. Take a reading at the indicated point; the gauge moves to the next automatically. You can measure in order or manually, only the points you need. Measured points are coloured by thickness.

Select a point to see its result at the top; tapping it opens the comment editor. The “left arrow” saves the report and returns to car selection, the “right arrow” saves and opens the car-data editor. Entered data is saved automatically.

You can enter car data right away or later — open the report from the archive, fill it in and export.

The PDF report contains panel images, measurement points and the thickness at each point with parameters: ferrous or non-ferrous metal, magnetic filler, zinc coating, colour tag and a text comment.

The text format contains all data without images — handy for moving into spreadsheets.

The archive keeps every report made earlier: you can open it, edit the data and export to PDF or text. A report contains:

• report name, make, model, colour, mileage, plate, year and VIN;
• owner’s phone and name, company and expert, report comment;
• the gauge’s name and serial number;
• per-panel data tied to measurement points.

Most makes and models already exist, but the list can be tailored. To add a make, tap “Add”, type the name and confirm with “OK”. A model is added inside a make with a body type.

Before deleting a make or model, remove all related models and reports from the archive.

Measurement points are set for all body types, but can be changed — up to 20 points per panel. Available: add, move, delete a point, reset points to default, and for symmetric panels — copy points from one side to the other.

To move a point, pick the body type and panel, then drag the point across the image.

You can add several companies and experts: a company has a name and logo, an expert a photo, name and title. The company and expert chosen when creating a report go into the result.

Before deleting a company or expert, remove related reports from the archive.

Here you set the units (mm and µm), interface theme and language (by system or manually), the report template, sound notifications, the point-to-point animation speed and keeping the screen awake while the gauge is connected.

Thickness ranges can be configured, each assigned a colour, a text hint and an on/off status. Ranges must not overlap, but may have gaps; the value is from 0 to 10 mm.

When the gauge is connected, the app picks up its measuring range and builds the colour scale. The colour tag and comment appear on the home screen, in history and in the report.

This section is available with the gauge connected and does not affect how the app itself works. For AVTOPODBOR-M the following are available:

• view and reset the user smart calibration;
• set the zinc detector sensitivity;
• set the magnetic filler detection sensitivity;
• set the gauge’s own range limits.

The “Information” section holds device data (software ID, serial number, name), app info (supported models, app and database version), the rules for measuring car paint and a searchable thickness table, plus links to manuals and technical support.
